My desk had gotten rather here-be-dragons-ish, all snarly and study unfriendly, so I tried to tame the mess a bit. My ‘classics’ books also seemed to have gone forth and multiplied, so they got sub-divided and re-shelved more manageably. And then I did sit down and did some work.
My best paperweights are a lump of coral from a Jamaican beach and a chunk of marble I hauled from the Thames riverbank*. Go figure.
*Could be ancient or modern for all I know about marble. I suspect it’s probably a bit of an old bank counter or church and not very old.
